It is a ship that joined the Ottoman Navy thanks to the navy campaign started in the reign of Abdülaziz. It served in the Ottoman-Russian war in 1877-1878, Ottoman-Greek war in 1897 and Balkan wars in 1912 in the navy. Because it had a substantial fire power, it was anchored in the shallow waters in the vicinity of Sarısağırlar to be used as a floating bastion in order to support the fortresses in Gallipoli and to prevent foreign ships from entering the Dardanelles.
